Coated Welding Electrodes are used in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) are supplied as per AWS A5.4 in Stainless Steel Electrodes. The Flux coating contains various minerals to impart specific s characteristics. The most common grades of stainless electrodes are available in three coating types, -15, -16 & -17 as designated by American Welding Society. The -16 version of electrodes offers the most versatility, finely reppled weld metal, good all position useage, and easy to remove slag cover. The -17 version excel in offering a smooth, flat to concave well deposit which blends smoothly into base metal.
