ERNiCrMo-8 is a nickel alloy wire used for welding cast iron that provides greater corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. It is extensively utilized in those applications where durability in acidic and high-temperature conditions is necessary. Classification & Composition
Classified under AWS A5.14 and also known as Alloy G-2, AWS ERNiCrMo-8 offers superior performance due to its unique composition. With 50.5% nickel (Ni) for superior corrosion resistance, 24.75% chromium (Cr) for resistance to oxidation and 6.1% molybdenum (Mo) for enhanced strength against pitting, the alloy is formulated for longevity. 0.90% copper (Cu) provides resistance to reducing agents, and 0.70% silicon (Si) provides for easy welding with little slag. A low 0.01% carbon (C) content is used to avoid precipitation of carbides and to ensure the integrity of the weld. Iron (Fe) completes the composition, making ERNiCrMo-8 extremely dependable in severe environments.
