Description of AWS Class E308/308L-16 Coated Electrodes:
Alloy 308/308L-16 is a low carbon electrode for welding type 304L, 321, and 347 stainless steel. The controlled ferrite element in these weld coats gives excellent notch toughness at cryogenic temperatures. This electrode deposits a max carbon element in the weld metal to minimize the formation of chromium carbides and consequent susceptibility to resist intergranular corrosion. It is an excellent coated electrode for welding various alloys.
