What are the characteristics of AWS Class ER316/316H MIG & TIG?
Alloy 316/316H is designed manufactured especially for welding 316/316H austenitic stainless steels operating at high temperatures (500-800°C) under long-term creep conditions. This grade can also be well-suited for welding 321/321H and 347/347H materials in high-temperature structural service. It is particularly in thick, extremely restrained weldments since the possibility of premature service failure by intergranular HAZ cracking can be prevented by using more ductile weld metal rather than 347H.
What are the application areas of AWS Class ER316/316H MIG & TIG?
ER316H MIG & TIG can be used to weld wrought and cast forms of similar
composition. The presence of molybdenum in this chemical composition enhances its creep
resistance at high temperatures.
Whereas low ferrite level of this nominal composition reduces the corrosion rate in
particular media and is suitable for use at cryogenic temperatures. Alloy 316/316H MIG &
TIG can be used for welding furnace parts, steam piping, superheater headers, some gas,
and steam engine turbine components, in the petrochemical industry, in fossil and
nuclear-fuelled power stations.
