Description of AWS Class E81T1-B2 Flux Core:

Alloy 81T1-B2 is a low alloy steel Wire used for flux-cored arc welding with exterior gas shielding. Carbon dioxide is the optional shielding gas mixtures of 75 - 80% argon-balance carbon dioxide that may be in use. However, utilizing this gas may increase the tensile strength of these wires more than AWS's requirements. This flux core is projected for single and multiple pass welding, in all positions, of definite Cr-Mo steel plate and pipe, where 1¼% Cr and ½% Mo are required in the weld deposit. Gas flow rate should be maintained in these wires during welding at 35-50 ch, with the dew point of -40°F or inferior.

Properties of AWS Class E81T1-B2 Flux Core:

These flux core wires are made from low alloy steel, with outstanding weldability and exceptional mechanical qualities. The smooth arc transfer, lower spatters, and easy slag removal makes this the best choice for welding pressure vessel components at all points. It produces a weld deposit of 1¼% Cr-½% Mo, solidifying in still air. These flux cores require caution while preheating with inter-pass temperatures and appropriate post-weld heat treatment. The weld metal is projected to resist creep and preserve strength at high temperatures regions.

Applications of AWS Class E81T1-B2 Flux Core:

Alloy 81T1-B2 is projected to weld steels subject to high-temperature services, such as A387 Gr. 11 plate and A335 P11 pipe. These materials are also utilized to produce boilers, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels. These wires do not require minimum toughness values. Therefore, precise toughness wants should be examined before using the wire.
