Hastelloy® C-4 coated electrodes are utilized in C-4 alloy shielded metal arc welding. Because of its steadiness, the alloy may be welded without danger of sensitizing, which is the formation and proliferation of harmful second phase precipitates in the grain boundaries of the weld heat-affected zone (HAZ). It is ductile, simple to shape and weld, and has remarkable toughness corrosion cracking in chloride-bearing environments, like certain other nickel alloys. It can survive either oxidizing or non-oxidizing acids and is resistant to pitting and crevice attacks in the presence of chlorides and other halides due to its significant chromium and molybdenum concentration.
This alloy is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with outstanding high-temperature stability, evidenced by its high ductility, corrosion resistance, and stress corrosion cracking resistance, even after long-term aging at temperatures between 1200 and 1900 degrees Fahrenheit (649 - 1038 degrees Celsius). It also resists oxidizing atmospheres up to 1900 deg F (1038 deg C). The most commonly affected substances include hot mineral acids, solvents, chlorine and chlorine-contaminated media (organic and inorganic), dry chlorine, formic and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, and seawater and brine solutions. We ensure that each product is tested before it is shipped for packing by our employees. For a damage-free delivery, we recommend that they be packaged in plastic or wooden containers or cartons.
