What is ER 2553 Wire?

IABCO 2553 is a nitrogen reinforced, high manganese-silicon austenitic stainless steel wire displaying high strength and first-class toughness over an extensive range of temperatures. Weldments in the as-welded form finished using this filler metal offer one of the top mixtures of force and flexibility when subjected to carbide precipitation.

Characteristics of ER 2553 Wire:

ER 2553 is used primarily for welding duplex stainless steels containing approximately 25% chromium. It has a 'duplex' microstructure which has an austenite-ferrite matrix. This duplex alloy is featured by high tensile strength, resistance to stress corrosion cracking and improved resistance to pitting.

ER 2553 wire is considered to weld duplex stainless steels such as 2253. It has High tensile strength and enhanced resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting that features the welds of this wire. This wire is inferior in ferrite contrast to the base metal to enhance weldability.

It is used mainly to weld duplex stainless steel with about 25% chromium. It possesses a 'duplex' microstructure which is a blend of an austenite-ferrite matrix. It is a super duplex welding wire. This welding wire provides identical chemistry and mechanical properties to wrought super duplex alloys such as 2507, Zeron 100 and super duplex casting alloys (ASTM A890). This welding wire is over alloyed 2-3 percent in Nickel to offer optimum ferrite/austenite ratio in the weld form. This structure offers high tensile and yield strength by the side of bigger resistance to SCC and pitting corrosion.
